SONY ERICSSON LAUNCHES JAPAN EXCLUSIVE VERSION OF XPERIA ARC

Releasing a smartphone in Japan isn't easy. A device can come with all the bells and whistles that'll satisfy the majority of Asian smartphone users, but unless it comes with Japanese essentials like mobile wallet capabilities (NFC), a TV tuner and IrDA, that device will probably never take off in Japan.

Today, a refined version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc called the Sony Ericsson Xperia arco has been announced in Japan and comes with the said enhancements. Essentially identical in terms of hardware specs, the addition of NFC, a TV tuner and a humble infrared port will probably be a big deal to Japanese consumers. The arco will most likely be tied to Docomo and come in three new colors, namely white, black and aqua.

There isn't a whole wealth of information on this device on the Sony Ericsson press site (heck, there aren't even any high-res photos), but if leaked presentations are your thing, then head over to Xperia Blog for a better understanding of this device - but only if you can read Japanese.
